How to Choose the Right Gear for the Transition to Solids

Starting solids is one of those milestones that feels huge and a little messy, and we have been there right beside you. The transition to solids is less about buying everything at once and more about setting up a few pieces that make mealtimes calmer. A supportive seat, an easy-clean bib, and spoons sized for tiny hands go a long way toward turning that first bite into a happy memory instead of a stressful one.

As your little one grows, their needs shift quickly, so we curated pieces that adapt with them. Look for a high chair or multi-seat that adjusts in height, tableware that suctions or resists tipping, and training utensils that build confidence and coordination. Silicone pouches, spill-friendly cups, and long-sleeve bibs keep cleanup simple. The goal is to let baby explore new textures and flavors while you enjoy the moment together.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start my baby on solids?

Most babies show readiness signs around six months, like sitting with support, good head control, and interest in food. Every baby is different, so watch for those cues and check with your pediatrician before you begin. When they seem ready, start slow with simple textures.

What do I need to start baby-led weaning?

A supportive high chair or multi-seat, a good bib, suction bowls or plates, and soft training utensils cover the basics. Many parents also love silicone pouches for purees and a spill-friendly cup for water. Start with a few essentials and add more as mealtimes evolve.

Are silicone spoons better for babies starting solids?

Silicone spoons are gentle on new gums, soft on the mouth, and easy to clean, which makes them a favorite for first bites. Their flexible tips help with self-feeding practice too. Many sets come in sizes that grow with your baby from purees to more textured foods.

What kind of high chair is best for starting solids?

Look for a chair with a supportive seat, a wipeable tray, and adjustable height so it can grow with your child. Multi-seat and convertible options add value since they transition into booster or toddler seating. Choose one that fits your space and cleans up easily after messy meals.

Everything You Need for the Transition to Solids

Our Transition to Solids collection brings together the pieces that make first meals easier and more joyful. From adjustable multi-seats and deluxe high chairs to long-sleeve bibs, silicone spoon sets, training knives, and spill-friendly cups, we curated gear that supports every stage of learning to eat. We are moms too, so we know mealtimes can get messy fast. That is why we lean toward easy-clean materials, thoughtful sizing, and dependable designs. Whether you are trying purees or baby-led weaning, you will find practical picks that grow right along with your little one.

Starting Solids by Age and Stage

Around six months, many babies begin showing readiness for solids, so a supportive seat and soft spoons are your starting point. As they master purees, introduce suction bowls and let them practice self-feeding, mess and all. Between nine and twelve months, textured foods and finger foods come into play, and a training knife helps build coordination and confidence. Toddlers moving toward independence do well with tip-resistant tableware and cups they can hold themselves. Let your baby set the pace, and add tools that match each new skill they are working on.

Buying Tips and Gifting Ideas for New Eaters

When you are shopping this collection, think about pieces that pull double duty. Convertible high chairs and multi-seats stretch your budget by adapting as your child grows, while silicone tableware and pouches handle daily wear without fuss. For gifting, a curated feeding bundle is always welcome at a baby shower or first birthday, especially paired with a cute bib and a spoon set. Choose easy-clean materials and versatile sizes so your gift stays useful for months. Practical presents like these tend to become the ones parents reach for every single day.
