-This product comes pre-sanded. All products are wiped down prior to packaging, however, some wood dust may be present upon opening.
-This wood product is untreated. It can easily be stained or painted once assembled.
-Given that the wood is untreated, excessive exposure to the sun and/or water and other liquids may cause warping and/or staining over time. We suggest sealing your product if you plan to use it outdoors or around water/liquids.

This bookshelf is made from half inch USA Baltic Birch plywood, a hardwood plywood known for its strength and smooth veneer layers. It arrives unfinished so you can stain, paint, or leave it in its natural wood tone to match your nursery or playroom.
The peaked roofline turns everyday reading into a small adventure, giving books a home that feels like a cozy cottage rather than a plain box. It brings a Montessori inspired, open front design that invites toddlers to choose and return their own books.
Pick 3 shelves for a shorter, more compact fit or 4 shelves for extra storage in a bigger room. Both sit side by side beautifully if you are outfitting a shared space or growing a home library over time.
A few practical questions can help you pick the shelf count and finish that will actually work in your home.
- Count your current books: Lay out how many books your child owns now and think ahead a year or two. If you expect the collection to grow quickly, the 4 shelf option gives you more room before you outgrow it.
- Measure your space first: The house shape has height from its peaked roof, so measure ceiling clearance and floor footprint before you decide on size. A narrower wall may do better with the shorter option.
- Decide on a finish plan: Since the wood arrives unfinished, think about whether you want to stain, paint, or leave it natural before it arrives. Doing this early means the shelf can be ready to use right after assembly.
- Think about where it will live: Untreated wood can warp or stain with heavy sun or moisture exposure, so keep it away from windows that get direct sun or spots near water. If it will live in a sunroom or bathroom, plan to seal it first.
- Plan for anchoring: As with any tall freestanding furniture in a child's room, anchor it to the wall once assembled for extra stability, especially if your child likes to climb.
Does the bookshelf come already finished or do I need to paint it?
It arrives unfinished and pre-sanded, so you can stain, paint, or leave it in its natural wood color. Some wood dust may be present when you open it even though it is wiped down before packaging.
How hard is assembly?
The pieces are designed to slot together and all hardware is included, so most parents find it very manageable without special tools. It is straightforward enough to do in one sitting.
Should I choose 3 shelves or 4 shelves?
Choose 4 shelves if you have a larger book collection or want more display space, and 3 shelves if you have a smaller room or fewer books right now. Both share the same house shaped silhouette.
Is this safe to use outdoors or in a bathroom?
The wood is untreated, so excessive sun or water exposure can cause warping or staining over time. If you plan to use it outdoors or near water, we recommend sealing it first.
Will the wood grain and color be perfectly uniform?
No, and that is part of working with real wood. Baltic birch plywood can show natural variations in color, knots, texture, and grain from piece to piece.
