How warm does it actually keep my baby?
The insulated layer and attached hood are built to block wind and retain body heat for cold weather outings. It is meant as an added layer over your baby's regular clothing, not a replacement for it.

Yes, the cover is designed to sit around the carrier opening so your baby's face stays uncovered and visible to you at all times.
